Making Trees, Molds and other Time Saving Techniques

How do you make Hundreds of trees fairly quickly? Well you Don't but there are some things to do to speed things up, especially making realistic Trunks. I started off by purchasing some Resin trunks form Joel Bragdon ( special order ) in both 24" and 33" lengths. Since we need a lot of these and can' afford the cost of them x 300. I decided to make a mold of each trunk so we could make copies. If you make molds of pieces you own and copy them for your own personel use that is OK, Never make molds of proprietary work and sale them, that is quite illegal and sadly prevelent in our Hobby. So please do not ask, Call Joel Bragdon and he will gladly sell you some of these beauties.  Some pics below of the process, which takes a lot of RTV, which is not cheap. But we need to make a lot of tunks quickly.

Keys are pushed into Clay so RTV 1/2's can lock together
Rubber Poured and allowed to Cure overnightMold Poted and getting ready to Flip, Pull Clay and pour Second Half
Second Half Poured, make sure Vasoline is applied to Surface of 1st Half2 Mold Halves side by side, again Vasoline kept the 2 sides from growing togethe
