Town and Sawmill Areas

Updated July 30th 2011 Town and Sawmill Areas. Small Town, Engine House, Sawmill will occupy the back half of the layout. Trees have reached this area and now it is time to finish scenery texture in these areas and start to add some structures. 13 Months to go before convention. The goal ( might not be reality is to have Sawmill done by end of January).

Townsite and loging road up tolog landing/loading area
- Rough Dirt Road and Town are @ 6ft Long and 1ft deep
- Road heads up to Log loading area

- Town area looking down the layout toward the turntable, enginehouse and sawmill area
- Zip textured the sawmill today, going to add weeds and such as floor framework of mill will make any scenery below very difficult
Log Dump on right with pond in forefront
- Zip tectured wil add weeds, more talus, cribbing etc before pilings
- Same basic view, looking forward to a finished pic of this area
Sawmill section, little getty on left is for slash burner, Sawmill will be more traditional, but open walls to expose machinery.

Sawmill is based on Sturgeon and Hull Oakes in Oregon, little bigger than Sturgeon, but not as run down, will add some shed roofs and oher add on buildings to break it up a bit. I was only drinking a Coor's Light because I ran out of Corona.

Pulled a ton of referenceics from the HABS Architecture site from the Library of Congress, the single best site in the planet for historical buildings. Hull Oakes is too big for our space, however I will incorporate features from it in our mill.
